2011 Panthers

After suffering through a 2-14 the Panthers disbanded their coaching staff and hired former Chargers Defensive Coordinator Ron Rivera who also brought with him Tight Ends Coach Rod Chudzinski who will take over as the Offensive Coordinator.  Joining them is the new Defensive Coordinator, Sean McDermott who held that position with the Philadelphia Eagles.

The team was also won the rights to the number one pick in the 2011 draft which they used to select Heisman Trophy Winner Cam Newton. The team traded their 2nd round pick but in the third selected South Florida DT Terrell McClain who has won the starting left defensive tackle position.  The only position that required serious attention yet received none was the CB spot.  The team has decided to allow Gamble, Munnerlyn, Stanford and Thomas to hold those spots without bringing in any help.

The team should be much improved from 2010 but don’t look for the Panthers to go deep into the playoffs. That is, if they make the playoffs.

Be sure to get your tickets and cheer on your Carolina Panthers!
